Definition and Usage

The letter-spacing property increases or decreases the space between characters in a text.

Default value: normal
Inherited: yes
Version: CSS1
JavaScript syntax: object.style.letterSpacing="3px"

The letter-spacing property is supported in all major browsers.

Note: The value "inherit" is not supported in IE7 and earlier. IE8 requires a !DOCTYPE. IE9 supports "inherit".

normal No extra space between characters. This is default Play it »
length Defines an extra space between characters (negative values are allowed) Play it »
inherit Specifies that the value of the letter-spacing property should be inherited from the parent element
